Voluntourism: An Exploration Into the Ethics of Global Charity (Upcoming Event)

Join the Texas Undergraduate Research Journal for a discussion about Global Health and International Charity! The panel will be Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 6 PM – 7:15 PM at ECJ 1.214.

We will have four esteemed panelists who will discuss topics related to research about international aid, its implications, and whether aid is truly helpful in the context of a global landscape. We hope to discuss the long term implications of aid on local economies and how to develop sustainable volunteering practices, followed by a Q&A session with our audience.

Our panelists include:
Sera Bonds (CEO and Founder of Circle of Health International)
Jessica Sager (Director of Development at Well Aware)
Jacqui Hobbs (Peace Corps Campus Recruiter for UT Austin)
Dr. James Galbraith (Professor at LBJ School of Public Affairs)

As always, food will be provided, first come first serve!
